A Super-Awesome Day

Sand Creek SerenadeToday is March 1. That means Sand Creek Serenade’s birthday is just two short weeks away! So I was already celebrating this day. I’ve waited a very long time to launch a full-length novel out into the world, and finally hitting the first day of its launch month was a red-letter event.

Then I got the news.

The Selah Award Finalist list was announced just a short time ago, and, well…two of my Barbour novellas are finalists in the Western category! Beyond that, there are so many of my friends’ names on this list too! So here’s a shout-out to all the finalists for their hard work and dedication to their craft!

Influencers Needed

SCS--Influencers NeededWho wants a FREE e-book copy of Sand Creek Serenade? I’m looking for people who are willing to read the novel and help me get the word out.

Cover Blurb:

Dr. Sadie Hoppner is no stranger to adversity. She’s fought to be taken seriously since childhood when her father began training her in the healing arts. Finding acceptance and respect proves especially difficult at Fort Lyon, where she’s come to practice medicine under her brother’s watchful eye.

Cheyenne brave Five Kills wouldn’t knowingly jeopardize the peace treaty recently negotiated between his people and the Army. But a chance encounter with the female doctor ignites memories of his upbringing among the whites. Too intrigued to stay away, tension erupts with the soldiers, and Five Kills is injured.

As he recuperates under the tender care of the pretty healer, an unlikely bond forms. However, their fledgling love is put to the test when each realizes that a much greater danger awaits—a danger they are wholly unable to stop and one which neither may survive.

What does an influencer do?

An influencer should be willing to do some or all of the following:

  • Leave honest reviews on Amazon, Goodreads, personal blogs, or social media sites
  • Post pictures of yourself reading the book on social media sites
  • Post “Bookstagram”-style pictures of the book with pretty backgrounds and props  on social media sites
  • Tell your family, friends, book clubs, etc. about the story
  • Call your local public or church library to request they carry copies of Sand Creek Serenade
  • Call your local booksellers to request they carry copies of Sand Creek Serenade

If you’d like to be an influencer for this novel, please leave me a message with the ways you’ll help get the word out, and I’ll send you the link to download the e-book copy.

Cameo Courtships Collection

I have some exciting news! As of a few weeks ago, I signed my tenth contract!

Cameo Courtships Contract

The Cameo Courtships Collection will feature four historical romance novellas set between 1852 and 1895, with two stories taking place in Pennsylvania, one in Colorado, and one in Louisiana. The idea behind the collection is that an heirloom cameo, once owned by Queen Victoria herself, is passed between various memebers of a family, and while in possession of the piece, each heroine will find her love of a lifetime.

Cameo

My story, titled Taming Petra, is about an unladylike, buckskin-clad frontierswoman who falls for a straight-laced preacher. The two team up to retrieve the heirloom cameo she loses to a cheating brothel owner during a high-stakes poker game in 1875 Colorado.

I’ll begin writing this story in the next week or so, and the collection will release on June 1, 2019. Hope you’ll look for the Cameo Courtships Collection, as well as my two other 2019 releases–my first novel, Sand Creek Serenade (coming in March) and another 4-in-1 historical romance collection, Smitten Presents: The Cowboys (coming in August). And as always, thank you for your support!

And The Winner Is…

2018 Selah Finalist StickerIt was a pins and needles kind of week for me. Wednesday, May 23, was the date that the Selah Awards were to be announced, and all day, I was anxious for 7 PM ET to arrive. Of course, I couldn’t be at Blue Ridge Mountain Christian Writers Conference this year (drat! I missed everyone!!!), but they were kind enough to try and set up a live feed for those like me who couldn’t attend. The live feed wasn’t without its issues, but the word did trickle out. Slowly…very, very slowly! LOL

I was stunned to learn that my novella, The Outcast’s Redemption (part of the Secret The Secret Admirer Romance CollectionAdmirer Romance Collection) WON for the best western title in 2018! I say stunned because it was facing very stiff competition–two wonderful novel-length entries, one by Jayme Mansfield and the other by Donna L. H. Smith. I thought for sure that my 20,000-word novella didn’t have much chance, since novels provide so much more opportunity to develop characters and plotlines. But Lucky and Maisie’s story won! I’m very humbled and honored!

But there are so many wonderful 2018 Selah Winners to celebrate, so here they are:
